ABOUT OVERSTORY MEDICAL
Overstory Medical is a physician-led service that delivers considered, in-depth consultations prioritising depth, nuance, and clarity — focusing on the aspects of recovery after cancer treatment that benefit from time, reflection, and a clear, personalised path forward.
Overstory Medical supports people in restoring health, confidence, and direction after cancer treatment. Our work focuses on the post-treatment phase, where questions often extend beyond surveillance and into how to recover well, adapt to lasting changes, and move forward with intention.
Grounded in contemporary survivorship research and the evidence-based pillars of lifestyle medicine—nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, positive social connection, and avoidance of harmful substances—we translate medical evidence into practical, sustainable strategies that support recovery, adaptation, and ongoing progress.
Our Approach
Overstory Medical was founded by Dr Ben Forster, a physician dually trained in medical oncology and supportive care, with more than 15 years’ experience across cancer medicine, clinical research, and medical education.
Dr Forster’s approach reflects both clinical expertise and a nuanced understanding of the lived experience of cancer survivorship. It recognises the complexity of post-treatment challenges, the individuality of recovery, and the potential for gradual renewal over time. His ongoing postgraduate study in Lifestyle Medicine continues to inform and refine this work.
Our Guiding Principle
We believe that effective post-treatment care combines scientific rigour with thoughtful, person-centred guidance. Our role is to help individuals regain balance and agency by clarifying the factors that influence wellbeing and supporting them to strengthen these areas with intention.
In doing so, we aim to help people reshape their health narrative, build confidence in their capacity for ongoing improvement, and move forward with a renewed sense of stability and direction.
